The short version
The beta sign-up form sends your answers to me by email and keeps a copy in my customer database, so I can pick testers and send you the app. The app itself never connects to the internet and never sends anything unless you choose to email it to me. There is no analytics, no advertising tracking and no cookies on this site. The details are below.
Who we are
CPU Manager is made by Max Honsinger in London. This website and the CPU Manager beta are run by Maxima Music Group Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 12843015, registered office 20-22 Wenlock Road, London N1 7GU. The same company runs MixGenie and SongGenie. When you send us information through this site, we are the "data controller" for it: we decide what happens to it and we are responsible for looking after it.
You can reach us at jinngenie@mixgenie.co. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office and pay the annual data protection fee.
What the beta form collects, and why
The sign-up form asks for your name, your email address, which Mac you have and roughly what year it is, your macOS version, your main DAW, your audio interface, and anything you want to tell us about what your Mac struggles with. It also records whether you ticked the box to hear about CPU Manager, and if you did, the exact wording you agreed to and when.
We use it to:
- choose beta testers with a good spread of Macs, macOS versions and audio setups;
- email the people we pick the download link and their own tester code;
- email you about the beta: instructions, fixes, and the end of your trial;
- understand which Macs and setups CPU Manager works on.
We only add you to our CPU Manager mailing list if you tick the box. It is never ticked for you and it is never required to join the beta. Without it, we only email you about the beta. Ticking it covers emails about CPU Manager only, not our other businesses.
Alongside your answers we also receive the country you are in, which Cloudflare, who host this site, tell us. When you complete the anti-spam check, your IP address is sent to Cloudflare so they can verify you are not a bot. We do not store your IP address ourselves.
We do not use analytics and there is no advertising tracking of any kind. We do not take payments on this site.
What the CPU Manager app does with your information
CPU Manager makes no internet connections at all. To do its job it looks at which apps are running on your Mac and how much processor time they use, and that stays on your Mac. It also stores your tester code and the date you first unlocked it, on your Mac, to run the 30-day trial.
Three things can leave your Mac, and only if you send them:
- Report a Problem and crash reports open an email in your own email app with a report attached, which you can read before sending. A report includes the app version, your tester code, your Mac model, macOS version and processor type, and the names of the apps CPU Manager was managing at the time.
- The beta check-ins (around day 14 and near the end) open an email with the questions, plus your app version, tester code, trial day, Mac model, macOS version and processor type, or copy the same text for you to paste yourself.
We receive these only if you press send. We use them to fix problems and improve the app.
Where your information goes
Your form submission is turned into an email and sent to our inbox. A copy is saved in our customer database (CRM), so sign-ups and the conversations that follow do not get lost. What goes into it: your name, email, your answers, the country you are in, and your marketing choice with its wording. Nothing is stored on this website itself.

We are a UK business, and we are regulated by UK data protection law wherever you live. Some of your information is handled by US companies, and UK law requires proper safeguards for that. Each of these companies publishes data processing terms that cover transfers out of the UK using the standard contractual clauses with the UK Addendum, and each states that it takes part in the Data Privacy Framework, including its UK extension. We rely on those terms. If you would like the specifics for any of them, email us and we will point you to the documents.
Our lawful basis
Under UK GDPR we rely on legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)): running a beta test that you asked to join, choosing testers, sending you the app, emailing you about the beta, and keeping bots out of the form. We think this is what you would expect when you fill in a form headed "join the beta", and it has little effect on your privacy because the information is only used by us and is never sold or shared for anyone else's marketing.
If you tick the marketing box, we rely on your consent for those emails instead, and you can withdraw it any time using the unsubscribe link in any email or by emailing us.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies. The one thing that may store information in your browser is the anti-spam check on the sign-up form, Cloudflare Turnstile, which processes signals from your browser, including your IP address, to tell people from bots. That is strictly necessary for keeping the form usable, so we do not ask for consent for it.
How long we keep it
Your sign-up stays in our inbox and our customer database until you ask us to remove it or unsubscribe from our emails. Feedback you email us about the app is kept for as long as it is useful for developing CPU Manager. You can ask us to delete your information at any time and we will.
Your rights
You can ask what we hold about you and get a copy of it, have it corrected, have it deleted, ask us to restrict what we do with it, and in some circumstances get a copy in a portable format.
You also have the right to object to us using your information. Because we rely on legitimate interests, you can object at any time and we will stop unless we have a compelling reason not to.

Complaining
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first and we will try to sort it out. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint. You do not have to complain to us first.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the site or the app handles your information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
